Physical Education At Headfield
Headfield Junior School has some of the best facilities for the provision of PE in the area. We have separate2 separate areas for outdoor PE as well as a trim trail and a number of ‘fitness’ machines for children to use during playtimes we also a dance studio and an area for gymnastics.
Each term children are taught an invasion, net and wall or a striking and field skills as well as dance and gymnastics. Year 4 also go swimming on a Tuesday with additional sessions on a Friday afternoon.
These facilities now is allocated the dance studio or the hall as well as one of the outdoor sports areas each week. Allowing the pupils up to 2 hours of high quality PE per week.
Each class has up to 2 sports leaders who were trained earlier this year and they help to make lunchtimes even more interesting by helping other children play games sensibly and safely.
The staff at Headfield run a number of clubs, both after school and during lunch times.
Most of these clubs run through-out the year although some of the clubs run for 1/2 a term and are designed to develop the skills of the children ready for some of the many events that we try to compete in against other school.
All children should bring the appropriate PE kit at the start of the week ready for their lessons.
